Yesterday

Jim and Ellen Kain, who live in close proximity to the heronry, said they haven't heard the loud clattering of young herons' feeding in the nest in a while now. They did, however, say that earlier in the season, their grandson and his friend tried to spend a night on the lawn. The sounds of birds, in the night, made the place seem like a jungle forest, and when they described the bird's size to the boys they abandoned their plan to sleep outdoors.
